ADHD Overwhelm: Why Clarity Is the Antidote to the ADHD Trifecta
Feeling overwhelmed is one of the most common struggles adults with ADHD experience.
In this episode of ADHD Support Talk, co-host Lynne Edris explores why overwhelm happens so easily for adults with ADHD—and why the real antidote isn’t working harder or trying to be more disciplined.
Lynne notes that when people come to her for help, three challenges show up again and again: overwhelm, procrastination, and the painful feeling of not living up to their potential. Lynne refers to these three struggles as the ADHD trifecta, because they’re so closely connected.
When overwhelm creeps in, procrastination often follows. And when those two take hold, it becomes much harder to follow through consistently in a way that reflects what you’re truly capable of.
The real antidote is clarity.
When you have clarity about what matters, what needs to happen next, and where to focus your attention, it becomes much easier to take action and move forward without getting stuck.
