Thomas E. Brown, Ph.D., is the consulting psychologist for Understood. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology at Yale University and serves as clinical associate professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. He joined the faculty there in the summer of 2016 after serving for 20 years as associate director of the Yale Clinic for Attention and Related Disorders in the department of psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. He also maintains a private practice that specializes in treating children, teens and adults with ADHD and related problems.
Brown is the author of Smart but Stuck: Emotions in Teens and Adults with ADHD. He also wrote A New Understanding of ADHD in Children and Adults: Executive Function Impairments and the prize-winning Attention Deficit Disorder: The Unfocused Mind in Children and Adults.
He edited ADHD Comorbidities: Handbook for ADHD Complications in Children and Adults and is the author of the Brown ADD Scales and many scientific articles. Brown has presented papers and workshops throughout the U.S. and in more than 40 other countries. His website is DrThomasEBrown.com.
